She earned an MFA from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014 and a BFA from Bradley University in 2011. Salazar was the 2014-15 John Fergus Post- MFA Fellow at The Ohio State University, where she was a resident artist and lecturer in printmaking. Recent awards include a 2017 ArtPrize Nine Seed Grant, 2017 Greater Columbus Arts Council AITC Grant, 2017 Columbus Arts Festival Emerging Artist Grant, and a 2016 Art Kudos Merit Award.
Installations that are permanently on public display include Blueprint, a canopy of printed and cut paper suspended in the Woodbourne-Centerville Public Library in Centerville, OH and Equidistant, a four-story paper piece for the Courtyard Marriott-Austin, TX arranged by NinedotArts and Sage Hospitality.
Currently on view through the month of February is Asphyxiator, part of In Essence of Being, a two-person exhibition of new work by Samantha Parker Salazar and Susan Palmisano at The Museum of Art, University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS. Also on view is Shock Absorber: made entirely of hand-cut traffic cones suspended between the gorgeous 50-foot cedars at the Stevens Point Sculpture Park in Stevens Point, WI, Shock Absorber will remain at the sculpture park until 2021.
Forthcoming, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has invited Salazar to curate a visual experience complimenting the March 2019 opening presentation of Orchestral Fireworks. As the Friday Orange curator for this event, Salazar will partner with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra to create an experience that is a perfect visual match to the theme. The centerpiece of the program will be Janacek's Sinfonietta, accentuated by 25 blazing brass instruments and legendary English conductor Sir Mark Elder will take to the podium to perform The Midday Witch, a visual and audio spectacle inspired by Eastern European folklore.
Salazar’s studio has recently moved and is now based in her hometown, Chicago, IL. Please direct all artwork inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org
